En este trabajo defiendo que el debate internacional sobre los principios de la bioética es uno de los más fructíferos para construir los fundamentos de una bioética intercultural. Tras recordar en qué consisten los principios de la bioética, tal y como han sido defendidos por Tom L. Beauchamp y James F. Childress en Estados Unidos, ofrezco una breve mirada a estos principios desde Europa, América Latina, África y Asia. How did Italy face the issue of allocating beds in Intensive Care Units and ventilators during the COVID-19 outbreak? At the beginning of the epidemic, the Italian Society of Anesthesia Analgesia Resuscitation and Intensive Care issued recommendations that sparked a heated debate. Later, the National Bioethics Committee, the ethical advisory board of the Government, has issued a document, which recognizes that the only admissible criterion to employ in a "pandemic emergency triage" is a clinical criterion. The document actually doesn’t address some core ethical issues, leaving many unanswered questions.

Bioetyki kulturowe stanowią reakcję na dominację zachodniego paradygmatu bioetyki i etyki medycznej kojarzonej głównie z pryncypializmem i filozofią utylitarystyczną, dominację będącą spuścizną kolonializmu. Na fali tego ruchu powstały bioetyka konfucjańska, japońska, bioetyka latynoska, a także bioetyka afrykańska. W artykule przedstawiam główne założenia, kulturowe podstawy, problemy i nurty bioetyki afrykańskiej. Analizę porównawczą wykonałam na przykładach bioetyki Bantu i Ibo. Mimo znacznych różnic między nimi, wspólnym mianownikiem jest krytyczne podejście do indywidualizmu i innych zachodnich wzorców kulturowych nieodpowiadających problemom medycznych praktyk kulturowych w Afryce Sub…
